DOCTORS IMAGING SERVICES INVESTS $10 MILLION IN REBUILDING
GREATER NEW ORLEANS HEALTHCARE
Technology and services include a 64-slice CT scanner, 3T and Open MRI
New Orleans, LA (September 12, 2006) – Doctors Imaging Services, a radiologist-owned and -operated outpatient diagnostic imaging center featuring the area’s first 64-slice CT scanner, opened its doors with an investment of more than $10 million in the Greater New Orleans area healthcare industry and a commitment to the Crescent City’s recovery.
Located at 4204 Teuton Street in Metairie near East Jefferson General Hospital, Doctors Imaging Services is staffed by five board-certified radiologists, with on-site coverage to ensure quality.
“We are both proud and privileged to be the only diagnostic center in the Greater New Orleans area with the 64-slice CT scanner,” says Doctors Imaging Services’ owner and radiologist, Dr. Edward Soll. “This new product of Siemens, the world’s number-one builder of diagnostic systems, will allow our staff to produce cutting-edge images of the heart, blood vessels, abdominal region and other anatomical areas typically evaluated through CT scanning. Using a 64-slice CT scanner, we can offer patients and their physicians a non-invasive, painless alternative to conventional coronary angiography, with a significant reduction of risk to one’s health and at a fraction of the cost. This is the most significant recent medical achievement in the diagnosis of cardiovascular disorders.”
In addition to having the first and only 64-slice CT scanner in the area, Doctors Imaging Services is the only practice to offer both an Ultra High-Field 3T MRI and an Open MRI. The 3T MRI is the most powerful available, allowing for the most advanced imaging techniques possible in the areas of neurological and orthopedic diagnosis. The Open MRI
offers exceptional imaging capabilities with particular benefits to pediatric patients and those who may suffer from claustrophobia. The diagnostic imaging equipment at this facility is valued at more than $5 million and includes technology such as a 4D Ultrasound and digital x-ray.
Since August 29, 2005, the Greater New Orleans area has struggled to provide adequate healthcare to its residents. After Hurricane Katrina, Doctors Imaging Services returned to its construction site and continued to prepare for the opening of its center. Though construction costs increased and staffing was a challenge, Doctors Imaging Services
remained committed to the Greater New Orleans area.
Appointments with Doctors Imaging Services’ board-certified radiologists can be made by calling the office at 504-883-8111 or visiting the website at www.doctorsimagingservices.com.
